Are you annoyed by the recent Firefox updates that do a search instead of actually loading the web page when you type a non fully qualified domain (FQDN) in the location bar?

Usually the browser will show the search of the term and in the top the legend "Did you mean to go" and then whatever you typed.

This is a security breach and a privacy invasion from Google. It seems like this is a feature for "lazy" people which not only cannot search from the "search bar" but attempt to justify their lazyness by typing a search in the location bar.

Personally,  I think this should be disabled on any corporate network by default, since it will allow Google to 'guess' internal structure of networks exposing very important information or even intelectual property.

Enough said! In order to disable this nonsense feature all you need to do is:

- Open a new tab

- Type 'about:config'

- Search for 'keyword.enabled'

- Double click on it to set it to false

Now you should be able to go back to use your short hostnames without google knowing about them.

Using Linux as a Router
Jonathan Feldman

Linux can be a terrific "poor man’s" router. It takes a little more startup configuration than a typical hardware router, but once it is going, very little will stop it, at least in our experience. We’ve been using the router setup detailed below in production for six months now (a few months more worth of pilot-testing), and the only faults we’ve encountered were either service-provider related or due to water-soaked cables -- unbelievable, but true, and a really long story I won’t get into here!

AUVSI published an article regarding the U.S. Defense budget adjustments for 2015 regarding unmanned systems acquisitions.

The header reads "Unmanned systems and the platforms that use them are under constraint like everything else in the fiscal tear 2015 defense budget, which was capped by Congress last year at $496 billion. ". I wonder if this will be a trend that we'll see in all coming years as part of the budget adjustments or is this just a single occurance in the last year of the current government?

Either case, the challenge is still to develop UAVs in a reduced size for more specialized tasks and long endurance.

The MFC-9970CDW printer will display the message "Replace Toner XXX" where XXX might be the C, M, Y or K toners, when the toner is low, not necessarily that is close to empty (but that's another post).

Assuming that you've already replaced your toner or that you're really sure the error message is not accurate, here's how to clear it:

Many years ago I developed an application called VAdmind (Virtual Administrator Daemon) and a client based on console and GTK interfaces.

Last week I went through some of the backups I had from previous projects and decided to give a quick update to the code. Back then I used Perl::GTK (1.0), I have now updated the code in order to make it compatible with Per::Gtk2.

Today I had to make some changes on the virtual machine I'm using with Mac OS X for iOS development, the scroll bars showing on the  right/bottom of the screen are totally a pain in the soul if you need to navigate through the screen.

I tried to change it using the system settings but there was no screen resolutions other than the default 1280x1024.
